Massage Services
The therapists at Convergent Therapies use a combination of the following techniques listed below.
Not all the techniques are listed, so if you have any questions regarding what techniques are utilized, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to answer any of your questions.
Many of these techniques do not require that the patient is unclothed. These will be delineated with an asterisk (*). If you are not comfortable getting undressed, please wear loose fitting clothes to allow for movement and stretching.
Swedish Massage
Smooth and relaxing strokes used to gently spread oil or lotion and relax and get the muscles warmed. This type of massage affects the circulatory and nervous system. It is used to get the patient used to the massage therapist’s touch. [top ↑] Book Now
Deep Tissue (DT)
Deep tissue massage simply means that the massage therapist works at a deeper layer of musculature usually closer to the bone structure depending on the muscles being worked on. The therapist may use their elbows or hands to provide a more firm pressure.
Many people believe that deep tissue means that it’s going to hurt. This is not necessarily true. All massage should be at a tolerable level. Make sure to keep clear communication with your therapist. The massage therapist should check in with you periodically to make sure the pressure isn’t too uncomfortable.
Deep tissue massage does, however, release cellular waste which may cause muscle soreness. To prevent this, drink plenty of water to flush out your system. [top ↑] Book Now
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) *
Neuromuscular therapy works with the nervous system to allow the muscles to release. By placing specific pressure on trigger points (minor spasms within the muscle fibers) and breathing, the nervous system then releases the muscle by relaxing the signals going to that muscle fiber. [top ↑] Book Now
Myofascial Release (MFR) *

Using the palliative, visual and intuitive skill of the therapist to sense tension, restriction and adhesion in the body and by applying slow, sustained pressure to the connective tissue or fascia, the therapist facilitates a change in the fascial tissue, layer upon layer. [top ↑] Book Now
Hot Stone Massage
This technique is added on to the treatment or full body massage. This technique uses hot stones to reduce tension and stress in the body. Heat increases blood circulation which, in turn, brings in more nutrients to the body and removes toxins. [top ↑] Book Now
Thai Massage *
Thai massage is a combination of yoga and massage all together. It is sometimes referred to as the “lazy man’s yoga” because, as the recipient, the patient is completely relaxed as the therapist stretches him or her.
Thai massage increases flexibility as well as energy. As in the Chinese meridian system, Thai massage utilizes Sen lines to affect a person’s “chi.” This helps to reduce “blockages” and increase circulation therefore minimizing disease.
This technique does not require the patient to be undressed. Instead, the patient should wear loosely fitted clothing that is not too slippery to help maintain friction over the skin. [top ↑] Book Now
Zen Bodytherapy
This type of work will remove pain, stress, trauma and energy blocks that have been stored in the body. It will give you optimum functionality in movement and in stillness by preparing, balancing, and aligning the soft tissue of the body in relationship with itself.
The practitioner and client will bring the pain and trauma into consciousness, look at it and re-experience.
The goal of Zen Bodytherapy is to become as a child: free of fear, hate, greed and pain. There are ten sessions of deep tissue work. The sessions are cumulative, each session building on the work from the prior session. You will leave each session feeling a difference! [top ↑] Book Now
Matrix Energetics® *
Matrix Energetics® is a system of healing, self-care, and transformation. It starts with a gentle light touch and the power of focused intent.
Matrix is based on the laws and expression of subtle energy physics, the concepts and laws of quantum physics, superstring theory, and Sheldrake’s Morphic Resonance.
Often you will see and feel a wave like motion when Matrix Energetics is applied, as the person being worked on experiences a smooth wave of transformation and the body seems to drop in a completely relaxed wave instantly. This can happen standing up, sitting down or laying on a table. [top ↑] Book Now
Reiki *
Reiki is based on ancient wisdom. It was developed in Japan by a Buddhist monk named Usui Sensei, and has been described as a form of Shinto/Buddhist Qigong (pronounced chee-gong).
It is an energy healing technique using laying-on of hands. As in acupuncture, Reiki affects the body’s life force energy, called chi. When there are blockages in the energy system, dis-ease occurs. Reiki helps to remove blockages to allow the chi to flow freely. [top ↑] Book Now
